By Kimberly Morgan-West | Goal Card Senior Program Manager
Last month, Booker T. Washington Goal Card students prepared for weeks and had the opportunity to engage in a fun day of mock interviews with the community partners, business professionals, and BTW alumni while giving students the space to practice their professional communication skills in a supportive environment. The event was brought together by BTW’s faculty in partnership with RISE Memphis, and featured volunteer participants from Streets Ministries, YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, MLGW, International Paper, The University of Memphis, and much more!
Nearly the entire senior class completed various stages of one-on-one interviews, group interviews, and panel discussions while being scored by each volunteer. All students came prepared with their resumes, interview attire, and talking points to ensure their interviews were successful, and received individual scores and critiques on their presentation.
Special thanks to BTW Career and College Development Instructor, Juanita Roberts, for her extensive work with preparing the senior class and for including RISE Memphis in this initiative.
