Goal Card Program

On December 12th, our Goal Card Team at the RISE Foundation was thrilled to join Cummings K-8 Optional School for the annual Read Around the Christmas Tree event! This inspiring hour of power, that has been in existence for over 10 years, brings the community together to read to amazing children in grades K—3. 

The volunteers who come out to this event have interacted with students on many occasions and the students look forward to seeing everyone each year.  After all grade levels have been read to each adult gifts a child with a book to take home. 

Many of these community partners have collaborated with the RISE Foundation over the years and it is indeed a pleasure to join them again for this annual event.  Participants included LeMoyne-Owen College, Rhodes College, Southwest TN Community College, Metropolitan Baptist Church, and many more.

In addition to working with the students at Cummings in the Goal Card Program, RISE coordinators also administer the Pennies A Day initiative at the school with 5^th graders.  All are invited to participate in this ingenious savings program that promotes the concepts of saving techniques reinforced on a daily, weekly and monthly schedule.  Each participant collects pennies daily which they then present at the end of the week to be tallied by their goal card coordinator.  At the end of the month the weekly savings are then deposited to their appropriate banking accounts with the help of an Orion Federal Credit Union banking representative.
