By Kimberly Morgan-West | Senior Goal Card Program Coordinator
RISE’s Goal Card program teaches students in grades 5-12 how to set and achieve academic, financial, and life goals. It provides structured academic mentoring and support from adult volunteers and staff who lend their time and insight to provide ongoing encouragement and guidance. Program coordinators work closely with participants and calculate scholastic performance and reward students for attendance, academics, and good conduct. As rewards for reaching their goals, students earn points redeemable for school supplies, gift cards, and small electronic items. They can also choose to bank their points for even bigger rewards!
Our eighth grade Goal Card members at Bellevue Middle School are learning the importance of saving in more ways than one! Nearly 100% of program participants at the middle school are saving their points for the big reward at the end of the school year. In addition to banking their reward points, Bellevue Goal Card members are also rising to the challenge of achieving their goals by allowing program coordinators to set additional goals for the next report card period. Goal Card Coordinators provide tips for not only goal-setting, but goal-achieving. The extra push - challenge participants to also increase conduct grades to all E’s by their next report card period. Our RISERS can make it happen! As we celebrate our Redemption Days this month, Goal Card Coordinators are looking forward to visiting the remaining six schools to challenge participants to strive for greatness and end the school year with a bang!
In all, education is the foundation to a successful lifestyle. At RISE, we realize many students in elementary, middle, and high school need all the scholastic support and encouragement they can get. This is the primary reason why the GOAL Card program is so vital, especially in the lives of today’s youth.
Our Goal Card superstars are already winning in so many ways in 2018. YOUR support of RISE makes these phenomenal accomplishments possible. The success of our Goal Card program depends on YOU, donate TODAY and help us to continue more achievements just like these.
