Through the GLOW Small Grants Program we will provide funding for community projects planned and executed by Georgian girls throughout all of the regions of Georgia. GLOW Ambassadors, the most motivated leaders from our GLOW camps, will be eligible to apply for grants of up to 500 GEL to help support their community projects, enabling them to have an even bigger impact in their communities.
Georgia is a new democracy which faces a number of challenges in its development. Our project focuses on two of these: gender inequality and lack of community engagement. Traditional gender roles continue to discourage girls from pursuing opportunities, particularly in leadership. This maintains a structure of male decision-makers that guide public discourse and often ignore female issues. Additionally, involvement in community development efforts is limited, enabling the status quo to persist.
Through the Small Grants Program, we will provide up to 500 GEL to our "GLOW Ambassadors". While these girls have already proven to be hard-working, ingenious leaders, this program will empower and motivate them to broaden the scope and impact of their efforts. Through these projects, girls both explicitly and implicitly advocate for gender equality and encourage community engagement. The acquired skills will also enhance their leadership capacity and be invaluable to their future successes.
This project will allow us to fund at least 20 community projects led by Georgian girls over the next two years. This support will enable our Ambassadors to think bigger when planning projects and have a greater impact. They will develop stronger skill-sets that strengthen their leadership abilities and professional qualifications, resulting in more influential Georgian women in the future. We hope to empower Georgian girls to take ownership of Georgia's development and affect its future.
