Operation Clean up!

By Daniel Sitarenios | Operations Manager

Dear Supports,

Looking back on the second quarter we’ve managed to play a role in enabling transitioning to a low carbon economy. Let’s take a look at one of our stories from our many locations around the world that fight to reduce carbon operations.

At the Contando con un Amigo school in Mexico, GVI volunteers and staff organized a plan to cover very important topics, like arts, physical education, English lessons, environmental education, among others.

GVI volunteers have planned activities using recycled materials and encouraged creativity to allow participants to discover their skills, starting the day with their favourite something!

During the summer course they included a fundraising event at Contando con un Amigo school. The 12 children that participated, with our GVI volunteers, collected in total an incredible amount of 715 plastic bottles from 1 km of the road that connects their community with the highway. For one hour GVI staff, volunteers and participants from the school walked 1 km, and collected plastic down the strong summer sun of Playa del Carmen. In the debrief, the children were very participative regarding the bad behaviour of throwing garbage in the jungle or the roads. The children were very excited to tell their teachers how many plastic bottles they picked up! These children are eager to learn and to become better citizens and with your aid them we can keep educating them on environmental issues.

We would like to thank everyone for their continued support in our mission to reduce the carbon offset and we look forward to creating a brighter future for us all!

With Love,

The GVI Trust
