Project Report | Feb 1, 2024
Young fighters from Havana Boxing Club

By Liz Mnengwah | Head of Programs

Six Havana young fighters, fueled by Glad's House spirit, stormed the Nairobi ring at the National Junior Championship. Four carved their way through, each swing a testament to grit. Two, eyes burning with unwavering fire, reached the final dance. And then, one, history etched in every sweat-slicked muscle, returned home draped in the champion's mantle.

But the real victory echoes beyond the trophy's gleam. Glad's House whispers it's Theory of Change: "Sports and education, building mental and physical health, for a tomorrow that shines brighter."

The six who stood in Nairobi's spotlight are but threads in a tapestry woven with the dreams of the six who stayed behind, and the hundreds who chase their own victories in soccer, volleyball, and soon, basketball.

Their paths may diverge, but the similarities bind them. They share the sting of hardship, the resilience forged in the Havana ring, and the unwavering belief that a better tomorrow awaits, one punch, one step, one lesson at a time.

The difference for the Nairobi six is a trophy, a tangible symbol of their talent and dedication. But for all, the true victory lies in the unwavering pursuit of their dreams, fueled by the unwavering support of Glad's House. In their shared stories, a powerful truth resonates: even when the spotlight shines on one, the light illuminates a path for many, paving the way for a future where every Havana fighter, every Nairobi dreamer, has the chance to rise and claim their own victory.

Enjoy reading and looking forward to your continued support.
