Construction Project Update - Phase II

We are pleased to share an update on the progress of the classroom construction project supported through your generous contributions.

Phase II of the construction, involving two classroom units, has now been successfully completed. This marks a significant milestone in our effort to improve the learning environment for the children under our care. The new classrooms are structurally ready and will shortly be made available for use.

However, the classrooms are not yet fully operational due to the absence of essential furniture, specifically desks and tables. These items are critical to ensuring that the children can effectively utilise the new learning spaces.

Efforts are currently underway to mobilise the necessary resources to procure the required furniture. As with previous phases of the project, we remain committed to securing the needed funds and completing this final step. It is our hope and expectation that the required funds will be raised in time to furnish the classrooms and make them fully functional without delay.

The completion of the classroom structures represents a major achievement and a positive step forward in enhancing access to quality education. With the provision of desks and tables, the children will be able to fully benefit from these new facilities.

We sincerely appreciate your continued support and partnership, which make these developments possible and contribute meaningfully to improving the educational opportunities for these children.

School Renovation Progress & Impact Report

Dear Friends and Supporters,

On behalf of Candles of Hope Uganda, our children, and the entire school community, we extend our heartfelt thanks to you. Your generosity, trust, and belief have made real and visible change possible.

Because of you, Phase One of our school renovation project has been successfully completed.

What Your Support Has Achieved

Before this project began, several classrooms were in extremely poor condition—cracked walls, worn floors, and unsafe learning environments. These conditions affected not only learning outcomes but also the dignity and confidence of the children.

Today, because of donor support:

The classrooms that were in the worst condition have been repaired and freshly painted
Children are now learning in clean, safe, and welcoming spaces
Teachers report improved focus and morale among students
The school community feels renewed hope and pride

For many of these children, this is the first time they have experienced a classroom that truly supports learning.

Where We Are Now

While Phase One addressed the most urgent classroom repairs, the needs of the school remain significant.

Enrollment continues to grow, and overcrowding is still a daily challenge. In addition, the school lacks essential facilities that are critical for a wellrounded, safe, and dignified learning environment—especially for girls.

The Remaining Needs

The next stages of the project focus on longterm transformation:

Phase Two: Additional Learning Space

The school requires two additional classrooms to reduce overcrowding and ensure children can learn in safe, comfortable conditions.

Phase Three: Core School Facilities

To truly support children’s education, health, and dignity, the school still lacks:

A main hall for assemblies, learning activities, and community use
A library to promote reading, imagination, and independent learning
A school clinic to address basic health needs
A changing place for girls, critical for dignity, safety, and confidence

These facilities are not luxuries—they are foundational to child development, retention in school, and gender equity.
