This year FISULAB is turning 18 years old, thats the same age, Cesar just turned. And 18 years are the minimun time that a cleft lip and palate patient needs in order to complete his rehab.
Cesar was born in Alban, Cundinamarca, a town 2 hours away from our headquarters in Bogotá.
The distance never stopped Cesar´s family. They were so commited with his treatment that they brought him to every single medical appointment. Cesar grew up and found the bright side of his condition; he was the only kid in his town that got to know the Bogotá, the capital of his country, Colombia.
18 years later, Cesar is completely rehabilitated, he is in his last year of highschool and wants to become a civil engineer to help his home town. He sees himself as any other young man in town, he goes to parties, he studies, plays and he is capable of doing any normal activity for a guy his age.
He advices people with the same condition to keep moving on and to put their lives on the hands of science and all the technological advances to treat their condition.
We want to help kids like Cesar to be able to share their smiles and laughter. But we can only do it with the help of sharing peolple.
