In June 1000 women, men and children received food items and clothing while 34 women have set up their businesses and feeding their families. On June 8th, JHF went to Kuchingoro camp for Internally Displaced Persons and donated relief materials to vulnerable families. The Covid-19 pandemic had reduced the financial support individuals and organizations could give to them and while it is assumed that the government distributed palliatives, groups desperately in need such as these did not benefit. It was indeed a season of hunger and deprivation so our intervention was timely and impactful.
The beneficiaries were as excited and thankful as we distributed to each family packaged foods, groceries, male and female wears. In addition, JHF financially and materially empowered 25 women to expand their businesses and 9 women to start-up petty trading because we believe that when the relief items are exhausted a woman engaged in business will always provide for her family. The beneficiaries were overjoyed and could not wait to start trading in their various fields including tailoring and hair making. In fact, one of the beneficiaries was almost in tears because she had to cater to nine children all by herself since her husband is unemployed. Her family barely survived the small profits from her business but now with the grant support, it will be expanded and she will take better care of her family.
The entire JHF team and those living in the camp want to say thank you for your support. When these 34 women start-up and continue diligently in their businesses, they will become financially independent and your donations would have paid off. Entire families have also been fed!
We look forward to keeping you updated on the progress of their businesses and the general welfare of the families in the camp.
From all of us at JHF, we say THANK YOU!
