Dear Friend of HAGN Girls,
It is with great pleasure that I am sharing news on our "Give Haitian Girls a Choice to Safety from COVID-19" project.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in Haiti, weekly group meetings through Safe Spaces have been interrupted in the communities where HAGN works. The interruption of these face-to-face activities weakened the safety of adolescent girls and slowed down training sessions that provided essential skills for girls to prevent violence and economically empower them. It was challenging for the organization to continue to build the skills of girls and protect them from the negative impacts of Covid-19.
Thanks to this support, adolescent girls and young women have tools and resources they need to remain safe, protect their already acquired assets on sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence. Today, several measures were put in place for remote support, including: promotion of hygiene and safety measures by phone and whatsapp for the prevention of covid-19, facilitate access to condoms to prevention disruption of family planning products and one-time cash voucher to help them and their families follow social distancing.
So, I would like to thank you very much to give these girls a choice to safety from Covid-19. Please, help us spread the word on social media, through email or with your friends and networks to collect the remaining funds.
With my deepest gratitude,
Maureen
