Summary

With your help we will protect 25 children who are in street life situations, they will be emotionally and physically rehabilitated to start a new life. We wish to continue providing services in the house of Dones, where we have changed many lives. The house has been adapted to accommodate our children; it includes a kitchen to prep freshly cooked meals, a spacious outside area to play, a psychology office, two comfortable bedrooms, four bathrooms, a living room, and classroom/computer room.

Challenge

In Cartagena de Indias 60.2% of the population are living below the poverty line, more than 250 children are in street life situation and hundreds are at high risk, 85% of them suffer from physical aggression, 70% sexual abuse, 60% child labor, 35% use of psychoactive substances, and 15% sexual exploitation. They are exposed to physical, psychological, and moral abuse that has a negative impact on their lives. Additionally, they are deprived of all their rights.

Solution

We will provide a safe home to 25 children in street life situation, where they will receive housing, nutritional recovery, quality education, psychosocial and family attention, rehabilitation, medical care, recreation and development of their talents, with the purpose of transforming their lives and raising a new generation that will positively impact the society. Families will receive guidance and support throughout the process, of therapy, rehabilitation, and psychosocial interventions.

Long-Term Impact

Purchasing the house would grant us the opportunity to fulfill more of our dreams; some of which, are to make improvements to the house and to expand the facilities to receive more children who are at risk. With your support, the rights of our children will be guaranteed, changing their lives and families' destiny forever. Ultimately, it will decrease the current mistreatment, abuse, and pain they endure. Child by child, together we will change poverty, empower children, and increase education.
