One Classroom Up!

By Jimmy Oluoch | Project Leader

Hard core to fill in Foundation
Hard core to fill in Foundation

It has been a great first half of the year. Together we have been able to give students at class 7 (7th grade) a class to call their own. To our friends, and partners-Bravo! And Thank you! We are indeed delivering the classes stone for stone.

Over the past few months much progress has been made with the classroom building project.

We have received disbursements more consistently namely Feb, March, and now June. This means that we have been receiving more donations that have enabled us meet the processing amounts.

I want to thank you for your generous giving.

Through these efforts we have been able to do the following

  1. Complete 1 classroom- complete with plastered floors and walls, roofing and installation of windows and door; we were also able to complete conduit work for the electrical wiring.
  2. With the last disbursement we will be able to do the following:
  • Complete payment of the contracted mason for previous work completed.
  • Fill in two foundations with hardcore
  • Complete electrical wiring of the new class.
  • Complete the installation of windows

The impact has been amazing with our current class seven able to have enough learning space. We have been relieved of space constraints to a great extent. The class was able to move from a garage space they were using since the beginning of the year at the right time as the cold season set in.

Though our lower classes are still constrained for space I believe we will be able to work to complete two more classes at least by end of August 2014.

To do that would require us to make close to $4000. This will complete the two classes (see foundation stage) and also start the work on a second Block with 4 classes.

I would like to request you to consider doubling your giving and mobilization from friends to enable us meet the $4000 mark and deliver the two classes just as we did deliver the complete one over an impressive time of four months.

I believe with all of us chipping in with double efforts we can do the two classes in two and a half months.

This way we would be able to separate the baby class, nursery and pre-unit  who are currently sharing one class and class one and two who are currently sharing our office block-which we converted into classrooms.

Once again I would like to ask you to ask friends, family, work colleagues and business associates to support the work down here, to make for significance. This way we can double the speed of the work and the impact we are making together.

Thank you!
