Street children have always been marginalized by society for decades now. They are not given a platform to freely speak about their needs and rights and are constantly living in a state of vulnerability. For 20 years New Generation Burundi (NGB) has been organizing a Christmas meal for them.
On the 24th of December 2018, to celebrate Christmas and 20 years of NGB, a special event was organized at the new site. The purpose of this activity was to create and raise awareness about the situations street children live in and remind them that they are not forgotten. They have the right to celebrate Christmas just like other kids. Dieudonne Nahimana as well as the kids taken under the care of the organization motivated them and asked them not to lose hope. The kids were brought in early in order to get a haircut and our nurse took care of their hygiene. The staff was present during the event. It was a delight to see the kids perform like rock stars on stage. They also participated in various games that were organized and had a fun time. They shared their meals with the kids of NGB.
We thank each one of you who have regularly supported us, through Street Action, for many years. And those who are newer supporters and have provided substantial sums to make this possible.
We are truly grateful.
