Each year, New Generation Burundi (NGB) celebrates the International day of the African Child on June 16th. This year, the organization gathered 127 children amongst whom 50 were still leaving on the street and 77 were kids taken care of by NGB. In order to raise awareness about the purpose behind celebrating the African Child, NGB organised a week of activities emphasising the promotion of their rights to self-expression and to access health-care, education and leisure. A friendly match was organised on the pitch between FC Town team formed by street-connected children and NGB’s Imboneza FC Team.
The CEO of NGB shared a message of hope with the children. After the match, all the children headed to the NGB centre where they shared some happy moments with each other.
The children, through drawings, expressed their dreams, as well as the hardships they face. NGB is committed to continue advocating for the rights of these children so that they can lead a better life.
We thank each one of you who have regularly supported us, through Street Action, for many years. And those who are newer supporters and have provided substantial sums to make this possible.
We are truly grateful.
