Give Hope to Kisumu's Underprivileged Children

Growing up, Frank understood what it meant to count every shilling before the start of a school term. Despite earning a place at The Nairobi School and working hard academically, the weight of school fees became overwhelming for his family. By Form 3, his family was struggling to keep him in school, and the dream of higher education seemed to be slipping further away.

When we met Frank and his family, we saw more than financial need. We saw determination, resilience, and a young man who refused to let his circumstances define his future. After assessing his academic performance and spending time understanding his family's situation, we partnered with a local donor to support him through his final year of secondary school.

That support changed the course of his life.

In 2024, Frank successfully completed his secondary education and earned admission to pursue Counselling Psychology at Moi University, one of Kenya's leading institutions .

A year later, Frank reached out to share what that opportunity had meant to him:

"Growing up, I knew what it meant to count every shilling before a school term. By Form 3 at The Nairobi School, fees had become too heavy to bear, and university felt out of reach for someone from my background. That is when the Rahul Kotak Foundation stepped in and covered my remaining high school fees.

Their support didn't stop there. They followed up on my progress and encouraged me to aim higher, making me feel that my future mattered.

The Foundation's support gave me more than an education; it gave me dignity and responsibility.

The transition to campus was challenging, but with that stability, I could focus on my studies instead of worrying about being sent home. I began volunteering at the peer counselling desk, listening to students who were struggling. It reminded me why I chose this path; I know what it feels like to carry weight alone.

Today, I mentor first-year students and volunteer in schools during holidays, speaking about mental health. My goal is to become a licensed counsellor serving young people in underserved communities. The Rahul Kotak Foundation didn't just pay my fees; they helped me become someone who can give back to society."
