Dear Donors,
Greetings from Kisumu!
We are excited, honoured & thankful to receive 6 GlobalGiving Badges for the 7th consecutive year!
Recognized as Top-Ranked, Vetted, Site Visit Verified, Effective, Project of the Month, and Staff Favourite organisation, this milestone reflects our continued commitment to transparency, impact, and community-driven change. They represent the trust placed in our work by donors, partners, and the communities we serve.
Because of your support, children are staying in school. Communities are stepping forward. And simple, consistent meals are creating lasting change.
Thank you for continuing to believe in this work.
This Is What a Meal at School Makes Possible
“Without the meals, I wouldn’t have made it this far.”
Javan dreams of becoming an engineer, but not long ago, staying in school felt uncertain.
After being abandoned by his parents, Javan worked ferrying people across a nearby lake just to survive. Some days, he had to miss school to earn a small income.
When RKF’s School Meals Program began at his school, everything changed.
Knowing he would receive meals at school meant Javan could stay in class, focus on his studies, and complete primary school among the top students in his class. Today, he continues his education at a top county secondary school through our Scholarship Fund.
Teachers tell us they see this again and again: when a meal is waiting at school, children stay, and they learn.
From the Ground: A Growing Impact
At the start of this academic year, we resumed the meals program in the third week of January, once students had fully returned and settled into the term. Attendance gradually picked up, and the timing allowed the program to relaunch effectively.
Today, the program is running across 6 schools.
In just the past three months, we have served 111,683 meals, bringing our total to over 1.38 million meals served.
What makes this possible is a model rooted in community. Meals are prepared by local women, supported by families, and sustained together, ensuring that the impact lasts well beyond our presence.
Be Part of What Comes Next
A donation of $25 can serve 200 meals, keeping children like Javan in school, focused, and one step closer to their dreams.
