Project Report | Sep 30, 2009
Bread Children Information

By George Okanga | Director

Dear Friends and partners, I want to politely bring to your knowledge the effects of the devastating rain fall that hit Kisumu City Kenya in the evening of 21st/09/2009. Government report says that five people were confirmed dead and properties worth millions of Kenya shillings were swept away. Our orphans’ center was directed affected as you can see in the above pictures. Wall of a classroom which also doubles as the feeding hall collapsed breaking chairs and desks. This center is located in one of the biggest slums in Kisumu called Manyatta and is just less than 50 miters from Auji River which periodically bursts its banks incase of any heavy rains like the one experienced a few days ago.

This classroom is now so weak to an extent that it can come down anytime since the Government has predicate that the Kisumu rains may continue up to January next year. We are now appealing to friends, well-wishers, partners and donors to help us put up a strong semi-permanent classroom and also repair the desks and chairs which were broken. We are highly appealing for argent help to avoid any further damage and casualties. Thank you for time and God bless you all. George Okanga BREAD WITHOUT BORDERS ORPHANS SUPPORT PROJECT – KISUMU KENYA.
