Building the next generation

By Jennifer Akullu | Lead teacher, Kathy's kindergarten

Amazing shalom
Amazing shalom

Shalom's incredible Journey.

Every so often, one child reminds us why we do this work—why we arrive early, stay late, and give our all to nurturing young hearts and minds. Each day, we witness quiet miracles unfolding in the lives of children.Shalom, a top-class pupil at Kathy's kindergarten, is one of those children.

When Shalom first joined us, she was a bright-eyed little girl, full of questions—and just as full of doubts. She struggled with basic letter recognition, often sat quietly in lessons, and easily felt discouraged when she didn’t get things right the first time. With time, consistency, and the deep care of our teachers, Shalom began to bloom. We used simple songs to help her learn sounds, hands-on learning to build her confidence, and daily encouragement to help her believe she could learn and succeed.

Today, Shalom is one of the strongest readers in her class. She leads classroom songs, helps her classmates with puzzles, and reads stories to her younger sister, who has recently joined our baby class. Shalom’s transformation didn’t happen by magic. It is the result of intentional, nurturing education from teachers who see children not just as pupils, but as whole beings—with dreams, wounds, and unstoppable potential.

Yes, Shalom’s transformation was remarkable. Her parents enrolled her little sister without hesitation.

“If this is what Kathy’s Kindergarten has done for Shalom, we trust you with her little sister too,” her mother said, a wide smile on her face.

That moment meant everything to us! In the same way, seeing Shalom’s classmates in Top Class now able to read brings us great joy. It reassures us that by the time our pupils leave Kathy’s Kindergarten, they have received the strong foundation they need to move confidently to the next level.

We know that when a child is given love, structure, and the right tools, they can transform not only their own life but also the atmosphere in their home. As a result, families begin to believe, and communities begin to hope. we therefore strive to achieve that every single day.

Because of your support, children like Shalom receive individualized attention in small class sizes from our team that has both the training and the heart to nurture children beyond academics. Your assistance has created a safe and nurturing space where children can learn, play, and grow into the confident, curious individuals they are meant to be.

Families in Mayuge are beginning to see education not just as a service, but as a relationship built on trust and shared hope for their children’s future.

Thank you so much for your contribution. You are helping us raise children who are not only smart, but also kind, bold, and full of hope. What we are building together isn’t just a kindergarten—it is a generation in the making!
