Year to date in 2024, Better World Rescue has rescued 242 dogs and cats, with a special focus on the euthanasia lists at our local shelters. One dog we recently rescued is Hazel, a beautiful chocolate labrador retriever. Hazel was scheduled for euthanasia at Manteca Shelter because she was absolutely terrifed in the stressful, scary shelter environment. Hazel would cower in the back of her kennel and would growl at anyone who tried to leash her. We were able to save Hazel with the help of a dedicated foster and one of our professional trainers. Hazel has only been out of the shelter for a little less than two months but has already shown a dramatically new version of herself with the help of decompression and training. She loves to run and play and cuddle and will make some lucky family very, very happy! Hazel was within minutes of being euthanized for behavior that was a result of the shelter environment. Our training program helps dogs like Hazel to live their best lives and build confidence in themselves. We were only able to save Hazel due to a dedicated foster home saying yes, but with a training facility we can save more Hazels even without a foster home being immediately available.
Thank you again for your generous support of our dream. We have a ways to go to reach our goal for the facility, but every dollar helps. We are hopeful to realize our dream of a training facility within the next two years.
