Pratima (not her real name) and Pratap (not his real name) are siblings of about 12 and 11 years old respectively. Their parents are native of Nayagarh district but lived in Puri for some years. These children were studying at Markendeswar Government Upper Primary School in Puri. Due to some problem they were migrated to Phuleswari slum in Patrapada, Bhubaneswar. Here these children didn’t get admission in school in the absence of proper documents. In the meantime, the teacher of the remedial center run by Ruchika Social Service Organization, Bhubaneswar came to know about the problems. She met the parents and understands their problems. Then she met the Principal of the nearby government school and tried to know the reason behind not admitting these children in school. After that, Ruchika team facilitated the process and interacted with the Education Department officials (OPEPA). Finally, the children were admitted in school and continuing their studies.
This quarter, Ruchika was able to facilitate 200 such admissions in to different government schools.
