Asha is now equipped for success

Thank you for helping women like Asha

Through your help, 48 women received sewing training at tailoring schools in India at the last graduation in December. These women come from difficult situations and your gift has changed their life -- not just a meal for today but a skill they can use for years to come. Not only do they have a skill but they also received a sewing machine that will make their hopes and dreams become reality. Each of the women who recently graduated from the tailoring schools received their very own sewing machine.

Since these women have graduated, a new batch of students has arrived. Because of you, 48 women are currently enrolled in the tailoring schools, where they will spend six months learning how to sew and stitch.

Women like Asha are grateful for your support. Asha didn't have a job and her husband does day labor, so they are constantly facing financial struggles. It was hard to support their family on the wages of a day laborer. They have only one son but many times it is difficult to afford the fees to send him to school, provide clothes and healthy food.

Asha was hopeful when she joined the tailoring school. She gained tremendous confidence in herself and learned how to sew. She is able to not only sew clothes for her family, but she also sews clothes for others now. When she graduated she received her very own sewing machine, and she is now able to sew and earn an income to support her husband and son. She is very thankful that she now has valuable skills and a sewing machine that will greatly help her whole family.

Her quality of work is excellent and she is growing her business through referrals and looking to see how she can expand her marketing territory to attract even more people. If those from nearby villages will bring their work to her, she will soon be making more than enough. For two hours of work she can earn as much as she used to working all day in the fields.

Thank you for your compassion and generosity! When you help women like Asha, you are not just helping one person, but you are helping an entire family. Her son is also thankful as his life is too changed with his mother’s training.

Sakshi has a sewing machine because of you

Dear Friend,

Your generous gift to provide a woman in India with a sewing machine has made a huge difference. Thank you for your support and for empowering women to rise out of poverty.

There are 48 women who are currently enrolled in the tailoring schools, and they will spend six months learning how to sew and stitch. After graduating from the rigorous training, they will each get their very own sewing machine so they can start their own home tailoring business.

In India, other than day-labor, unemployment is very high, especially among women living in the rural areas. Many of these women are mothers who have struggled to find ways to support their families. Often times women living in poverty are uneducated and earn little to no wages. With a valuable skill like sewing, these women now have an opportunity to provide a good income for themselves and their families. Your gift is helping women like Sakshi.

One of Sakshi’s aunts told her about our tailoring school, she immediately applied to be part of the program. Even though she had a passion to learn, she had dropped out of school to care for her younger siblings. Knowing that soon she would need to marry, her family encouraged her to go to through the tailoring program so she can learn embroidery and sew dresses and other clothes. This would provide money for her wedding, and after marriage she would be able to continue stitching clothes.

Sakshi graduated after six months of tailoring training. She understood the great advantage she had when the school gave Sakshi her very own sewing machine. She still had a good relationship with her old school teachers so she approached them and was able to get a job stitching school uniforms for the local school.

Sakshi is saving her income for marriage. “In India it is very costly for a girl to get married, because I have this business I will be able to help my family with the costs.” Her mother chimed in, “not only is she helping pay for these bills, but the boy we found is excited that his wife will be able to earn an income.” Since it is a home based business she will be able to continue working even when they have children.

Sewing machine helps Malissa and her family

Dear Friend,

Your generous gift to provide a mom in India with a sewing machine has been life-changing. Thank you for your support and for empowering women to rise out of poverty.

There are 48 women who just graduated from the tailoring school. After graduating from the rigorous training, each woman received her very own sewing machine so she can start a tailoring business from home. This project also started it’s new class of women so there are 48 new students who are enrolled in the six-month course. They will spend the next few months learning how to sew and stitch.

I'm excited to share this story about Malissa.

Malissa grew up in a small village. She had to quit school after the 7th grade because there was no other school for her to attend. She was forced to get married at a young age and immeditely started a family. With little education and no other skills, Malissa couldn't find much work. He husband works as a day laborer, and it's difficult work that barely brings enought money for their family of four. Malissa wanted a better life for her son and daughter so that she can send them to school. She was so excited when she learned about the tailoring school because it was her chance to earn a better living.

After months of training, Malissa recently graduated and was given her very own sewing machine. Now she is able to start her very own business and sew clothes for people in her village. Her kids are in school and doing well in their studies. They were very excited that their mom graduated from the tailoring school. Malissa is happy that she can now support her family with the extra income.
