For ten years, Clara Luna has provided programs for children and youth to engage in educational and creative activities, something very uncommon in Ecuador and especially in small towns like Puerto Lopez. With our after school programs, children are given an opportunity to do arts and crafts, read books, play games, and work together on community initiatives. They are taught skills like leadership, communication, and critical thinking, otherwise a rare opportunity.
Each week, Clara Luna works in a rented space to provide children's and youth after-school programs to the community of Puerto Lopez. In order to keep our programs running, we must purchase the house we work out of. We have already worked towards this goal by coming up with $55,000 but still have a way to go to make this home ours.
Purchasing this house will guarantee that we are able to continue to work with more than 100 youth and children in the community on a weekly basis.
Clara Luna has been working in the community of Puerto Lopez for ten years now and has shown throughout that time a dramatic long term impact on the community; more people have had access to books, recreational activities, and creative educational programming, to name a few impacts. Clara Luna is a staple in the community for children and youth.
