This project will help the Portal Foundation protect and educate 470 children born to prison inmates or from low-income, vulnerable Colombian families. The Foundation, created in 1968 and located in the Picota prison in Bogota, is on the brink of collapse as revenue has dried up because of the Covid pandemic. The Foundation gives these children, ages 6 months to 12 years, opportunities to develop physically, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually to become successful adults.
The Portal Foundation is on the brink of collapse as revenue has dried up because of the Covid pandemic. Donations have decreased and families have not been able to pay any user fees as single mothers, which represent the majority of the population served, are either unemployed or getting very low wages in the informal sector.
This project will help the Portal Foundation survive through the pandemic and by doing so, it will help protect and educate 470 children born to prison inmates or from low-income, vulnerable Colombian families. The Foundation provides these kids with an environment of peace, harmony, solidarity and learning that strengthens human values and gives them a fair chance to become happy and successful adults.
The project will protect and educate 470 kids, ages 6 months to 12 years, giving them opportunities to develop physically, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually to become successful adults.
