Dear Donors and GlobalGiving Foundation,
You made our 2017 Year!
As the Board, the management and the general assembly of the Family of ChildHelp sit this morning, discussing the issues of our able donors, you are one of our finest donors, we have ever got in this 2017, when we came across your generous donation you supported us in 2017 and how it did saved the lives of girls, who has been living at high social risks. We can’t tell you how much we appreciate your support for our charitable and humanitarian work with our most vulnerable children.
Here at ChildHelp, our child policy inline with the SDGs, is to make sure that no child is left behind. Your support has help us in our humanitarian activities, which fits within our development approach to reach those left behind in Sierra Leone to access basic education and the human rights. The girl-children have been our serious focus as thousands of them are dropping our every 3 to 4 months in schools due to poor financial background, teenage pregnancy, child marriage, secret harmful traditional practices and other ill factor. Literacy is an invisible curse which we are fighting very hard especially in hidden rural communities out of reach.
With your support, in line with the UN’s SDGs, ChildHelp is always aligning its corporate social responsibility initiatives with the 17 sustainable development goals from the United Nations: In partnership with GPEDC, COL, GlobalGiving UK/USA, John Nadolski, Anthropology Compassion, Child Help Line International, Bradley families, Girls Not Brides, Anne Franks Fonds etc,. ChildHelp’s project on GlobalGiving: Girl Power, Schools Water and sanitations, Mudslides and Flooding, and Break the Chain – of modern slavery and child labour, are aligned with the UN SDGs as mentioned below:
1. No Poverty: Lets Us Learn movement aims to raise awareness and reduce levels of illiteracy to help people lift themselves out of poverty.
2. No Hunger: ChildHelp is working to ensure that no child goes to school hungry,
4. Quality Education: ChildHelp will help reach this goal through their core business activities, social impact programs, campaigns, and advocacy and by partnering with others.
5. Gender Equality: ChildHelp’s partnership with GlobalGiving, Commonwealth of Learning and Anne Frank Fonds, is transforming educational opportunities for girls from low-income communities in rural northern Sierra Leone.
6. Clean Water and Sanitation: ChildHelp worked with Water Art development organisations at local and international in sustainability skills to raise awareness of the importance of clean water and sanitation.
8. Good Jobs and Economic Growth: In rural Northern Province of Sierra Leone, ChildHelp delivers vocational training programs for marginalized rural youth, and matches them with employment opportunities.
17. Partnerships for the Goals: ChildHelp participates in multi-stakeholder initiatives that aim to influence how they collectively achieve the GlobalGoals.
Our goal is to make sure that we support children inline with the UN SDGs so that no child will be left behind in our operational communities. While we served over 15,000 children ages 2-18 since 2006 to now, the sad fact is that over 5,000 kids in our area still went to bed hungry, trapped in slavery and traditional harmful practices including marrying so early and destroying human lives, dropped out schools and abused in 2017.
Your generous donations went a long way and saved lives providing schools fees, thousands of uniforms, chairs and desks, education materials, life-skills training and education, open and distance learning, child’s right education in over 127 schools, legal assistances and counselling services, hotline activities for abused girls, fought against slavery and violent events against children especially the girls, drilled water and toilets facilities, renovation of a community schools, hygiene and health awareness raising, participated and supported Miss Every Nation December 2017 beauty and dancing competition for school children and provided over 85 hot meals to undernourished children in Christmas day, etc. In fact, with your gift, we were able to save three pregnant girl’s lives that went through operation in December, 2017 and are doing well. These are less than 18 years.
In 2018, we are experiencing challenges that will be tough. Though it will be not be easy, but we believe in you, with our lessons learnt and expansion, we will do more. So don't forget these children, they are future of tomorrow.
The service of GlobalGiving as been so great and exciting which we have enjoyed so much. A great platform with discipline and governed policy. We say Thanks to GlobalGiving for good work well done, especially in issues relating to funding and project sites visited in Sierra Leone. Thanks again to all our Donors, including our recurring donors, who has been with us since to help us make it happen. Your partnership, donations, love and concerns, means the world to us! We love you very much.
Thank you! You have made a real difference in the lives of the children we serve. We wish to see you again in 2018 and do wish you a blessed Happy New and Prosperous Year 2018. Thanks to you once more and God bless you.
With gratitude,
Sincerely,
