Technology and experience with it may be one-to-many, one-to-one or peer-to-peer. In some cases it may require students to learn alone or with others, online or offline, independently or networked. It has the capacity to deliver content, create learner communities and connects teachers with students. It provides access to information. It may be used for formal or informal learning situations and can assess what has been learned previously. It is used as a tool for productivity, creativity, communication, collaboration, design and data management. Content could be professionally produced or could have user-generated content. It may be specific to schools and place-based or transcend time and place. As in any complex system, each technology tool involves distinct infrastructure, design, content and pedagogy, and each may promote different types of learning; this is what Child Online Africa’s Girls STEM Education Campaign sort to achieve. That said, it seems a lot needs to be done whip up interest in people especially those who reside in the rural areas. For the period under review and at the time of this report, the campaign has not raised anything.
It is still early days in the year, we hope the interest may grow in people to support this noble cause.
