This project strengthens our Girls Scholarship and Mentorship Programs, providing financial support, guidance and life-skills training for girls in conflict-prone communities in Northern Nigeria. By meeting critical educational and well-being needs, we increase enrollment, retention and completion rates for primary and post-primary girls, ensuring they stay in school, thrive, and shape better futures.
Nigeria faces the world's highest education exclusion rates, with over 10 million out-of-school children nearly 60% girls. Completion rates for girls remain low at 64% in primary, 39% in junior secondary, and 29% in senior secondary. UNICEF and World Bank data show girls in Northern Nigeria are most affected, as poverty, insecurity, child marriage and harmful norms push them out. In conflict-prone areas, disrupted schooling leaves millions unable to complete basic education, deepening inequality
This project will address the barriers keeping girls out of school by providing sustained support for their education. 100 girls will receive scholarships, mentorship, and career guidance to strengthen confidence and reduce vulnerability to violence and abuse. Support will cover tuition, exam fees, textbooks, uniforms, bags, shoes, sanitary pads, transport, and other essential needs. By removing financial and social obstacles, the project will improve girls' access, retention, and completion.
This project will create lasting change by increasing girls' access to quality education and improving menstrual hygiene management, enabling them to stay in school with dignity. Through sustained mentorship, girls gain confidence, life skills, and pathways to personal and professional growth. By engaging government stakeholders, the project strengthens policy commitment, ensuring long-term protection, funding, and sustainability of girls' education and empowerment initiatives in Nigeria.
