This project provides 60 young girls with conducive learning environment and life skills training to help retain them in schools and participate in development.
The project addresses the rising incidents of school drop outs, illiteracy levels among other gender disparities among the young girls aged between 13 to 18 years in the Korogocho Slums of Nairobi Kenya. By offering life skills training, computer studies and a Homework environment, the girls are empowered to become active agents of change in the society. Mr. Mbol, a Programme Officer says ‘‘Through this project we have experienced a rise in the performance and number of female candidates."
Computer training, Life skills training, Exposure trips, library services and capacity building. Maureen, a beneficiary says ‘‘since I joined this Centre, I have really improved on my performance at school and feel refined and empowered."
The project expected to improve on the active participation of 60 young girls on development by taking up key leadership and decision making positions which will inturn empower over 300 in a span of 1 year.
