Over the past 12 years, Darjeeling Children's Trust and its supporters have been improving lives of the vulnerable children of Darjeeling, India. This has included the build of an essential children's home. We are now raising funds to complete the dormitories, staff accommodation and water harvesting. This build will also support and partner with local businesses and create jobs. Help us create a safe, happy home for these children.
Our challenge is to provide, equip and maintain a healthy space for children, giving them safety and a place to flourish. Water supply is a continuing problem in the town. Without DCT's help there would be insufficient water storage in the new children's home to meet the demand. We also need to provide new beds, bedding and furniture for the new home.
Our Solution, having built the new home, is to replace thin, uncomfortable mattresses for all the children; to replace worn out furnishings and to guarantee a dependable water supply. DCT's work, made possible by supporters from around the world, provides a home and essential safe space for the children, allowing them to achieve their potential.
Each year, the young young people living at the Home will have the opportunity to study in a supportive, modern environment in order to pass the exams so vital for getting a good job. They will live healthier lives so that their school attendance record will improve. They will be able to help their families, they can start to realise their dreams and enjoy more options for their futures.
