Dear supporter,
Chitral Women’s Sports Club was created by a young woman called Karishma, who is the first female athlete from the tiny Chitral town and who has also played football for Pakistan in the AFL International Cup in Australia and in the Jubilee Games. In 2018, she started the Chitral Women’s Sports Club to teach girls football.
Additionally, she organized a one-week football camp to challenge patriarchal societal beliefs surrounding gender norms and gender stereotypes. Karishma organized the tournament fair away in the mountains (the girls had to walk more than two hours to get to the place) and only female relatives were allowed to come. After this first summer camp, Karishma was the target of gender-based cyber-violence, receiving threats online. Nevertheless, Karishma persisted and defied bullies to continue her work.
She is currently engaged at the Women Win Leadership Program as part of the Made To Play Fund in which she has received a grant and a product donation (sports bras) to expand Chitral Women’s Football Club activities. Furthermore, Karishma has been exposed to incredible opportunities, one of them being granted half of the proceeds from Uniqlo x PARK x Women Win collaboration t-shirt to celebrate this year's FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
Your support will continue enabling Karishma to access these opportunities and materialize the dreams of girls living in the north of Pakistan.
