Nita on her bicycle with the nitrogen container
Nita on her bicycle with the nitrogen container

Dear Global Giving Supporters,

Nita is one of our goat paravets. She was recruited from the Dahiwadi branch. Her family’s financial condition was very poor. Although her home was 7 kilometres from the branch office, she would walk there every day to collect equipment, and from there walk further to respond to the calls she received from goat farmers. She would often carry the nitrogen container for AI straws on her head, as she barely had any money to spare for travelling costs. She would receive several calls for vaccinations and artificial insemination, but was unable to keep up with the demand, as she could not walk such long distances on a daily basis.

Assessing the situation, we decided to give Nita a bicycle so that she would not have to walk such distances anymore. Now, she firmly ties the nitrogen container and her other equipment to the cycle and travels freely to respond to calls. Her work has improved greatly and she is now able to reach more goat farmers. She does all her work now with the help of her cycle and says she is grateful to Mann Deshi for much-needed support.

Thank you so much for all Global Giving support.

One Step towards Achieving her Dream

Pratiksha lives in Ubermala with her parents and her brother. Her parents are daily wage labourers. Her elder sister is married, while her brother studies in grade 9. She studies in grade 8 and is a bright student. The distance between her house and the school is around 3 km. For Pratiksha going to school would be a painful task, as she would have to walk daily for about 45 minutes to school. This would consume around 1.5 hours of her time every day. Pratikhsha says “Sometimes I would reach school late by around 30 minutes, missing the first class. I wouldn’t be able to keep up with whatever was taught next. My legs would ache and by the time I would get home I would be exhausted .This would result in little time for study and other household work.”

Recently, Pratiksha was donated a cycle by Mann Deshi Foundation. The cycle has indeed mitigated many problems she was facing before. “I could not afford a cycle as it is too expensive. My father promised that when we had the requisite finance, we would definitely purchase it. .But somehow, that time never came. Thanks to Mann Deshi, I am able to save time in travelling and I am able to reach school in 15 minutes. I am able to study in the time saved, resulting in an increment of about 1 hour of study. I am fond of the subjects of Marathi, English and Maths.

Pratiksha dreams to join the police force.  Thanks to Mann Deshi Supporters without which it would not have been possible.

Megha with her mother
Megha with her mother

Dear Mann Deshi Supporters,

I would like to share the story of Megha-

Megha’s family’s financial condition was weak. She along with her family lived in a temporary hut.  Her parents used to together provide for the family by working as daily wage workers. Her family was living a happy life until her father suffered a medical condition and expired untimely.

It has been 2 years since her father died. To hold the family together and support the family in this distressed situation her mother has started working as a daily wage laborer. Her mother earns a daily income of 2,000 Rs. Megha and her two sisters help their mother on their off days.

Mother, vandana aspires to educate her two daughters and her son and wants them to stand on their own feet someday.

Megha says, “Mann Deshi is helping her fulfil this dream. Our financial condition can barely support the education for the three of us and hence buying a bicycle to travel was unattainable. Our school is located in Mahsurne village, which is 3 to 4 km from the neighbouring village of Vagh. The cycle received from the Mann Deshi has had the family delighted and has made travel very easy. Now, I can reach the school on time every day and I can focus more of my energy on studies”.

Thank you so much for all Global Giving supporters !

Regards,
