We would like to share a story of Tanuja.
‘I am happy that I can contribute financially to my family’, says Tanuja.
Sometimes a small ray of hope is all that we need in life. Tanuja has been a speech and hearing impaired since birth. She is educated till 8th Std. Due to my physical disabilities, her father was worried about her future, her marriage, and employment prospects. He wanted her to learn something and be financially independent. She is studying in a school for special kids. Her parents work on others’ farms. There’s a lot of financial problems at home. She has a younger brother too. She joined the Mann Deshi Foundation’s fashion designing workshop during her summer vacation. Her parents met the founder of the Foundation Chetna Sinha, and Tanuja’s course fee was waived. As her school is 3 km away from her house and she goes walking, she was also given a bicycle by Mann Deshi. “I am getting a lot of benefits due to using a bicycle. I can save time in traveling and devote it to my studies. I can also do stitching work simultaneously in my free time and make some income. I am happy I can contribute financially to my family,” says Tanuja, who feels thankful to Mann Deshi.
