Dear Bikes for Girls Supporters!

First, we want to thank those of you who donated to our Bikes for Girls program in Vietnam, during the GlobalGiving Matching days in July. We so appreciate all your loving support. Also, we want to thank those of you who continue to donate to us monthly with a recurring donation. This has been incredibly helpful to us, knowing that we can count on a certain amount of funds each month.

For me, half my summer has been in Vietnam working with our staff and teachers and visiting with our wonderful girls, in our bike, art, music and tutoring programs. I attended a bike giving at the end of July, where 20 girls from a rural area of Khanh Hoa received new bikes-and one of them the 4,658th girl to receive a bike since the program began! We worked with the Vietnamese red cross, as we do each month to set up the bike giving and help us identify girls in need of transportation to school. We are almost at 5,000 girls receiving our bikes and helmets! Obviously, we are only able to meet this milestone through all your caring and kindness to provide Rock-Paper-Scissors with the funding to buy the bikes and helmets as you do.

I love attending our bike givings, I not only feel so much joy watching the girls, but one of the best parts of the ceremony is to watch the parents and grandparents watch their daughters and granddaughters be called up to receive their bike and helmet. I always feel lucky to be there in Vietnam at that moment attending this fun and joyful giving ceremony.  I wish that each of you could attend to see how much it means to the girls to receive these bikes.

Here are a couple of photos of the July bike giving, along with me, a proud non-profit founder, along with the proud moms and grandmoms!

Thank you again,

Sara Nerone
