Building Futures: Girls Better After Quake Progress

By Shilpa Lamichhane | Program Manager

The "Girls Better After Quake" initiative continues to thrive, driven by the unwavering support of our donors, partners, and the community. Our tailored empowerment activities have expanded, offering young girls affected by the disaster an even broader array of extracurricular and skill training programs. Their enthusiastic participation demonstrates their resilience as they eagerly absorb new skills and knowledge from our dedicated mentors.

In recent months, the initiative has gained further momentum, with the addition of vocational training programs. These programs, focusing on areas such as sewing, baking, and basic entrepreneurship, have empowered the girls with practical skills that can lead to economic independence. Additionally, our art therapy sessions have provided a creative outlet for emotional expression, helping the girls cope with the trauma of the disaster.

Generous contributions have facilitated the establishment of a community library, stocked with educational materials, storybooks, and digital resources. This library serves as a safe haven for continuous learning and personal growth. The acquisition of additional second-hand computer systems has further enhanced our digital learning capabilities, ensuring uninterrupted access to education, especially during times of displacement.

Our initiative's impact has extended beyond its immediate beneficiaries. We have witnessed a ripple effect of empowerment within the community, as more girls and community members join our programs. Local community offices have continued to support our efforts, and our dedicated volunteers play a pivotal role in fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

We have also introduced environmental awareness programs, teaching the girls about sustainable practices and the importance of environmental stewardship. This initiative not only educates them about protecting their surroundings but also encourages them to take active roles in their community’s recovery and sustainability efforts.

Looking forward, our commitment to long-term growth remains steadfast. Our vision includes scaling up activities, promoting digital learning across all age groups, and introducing health and wellness programs to ensure holistic development. We are also exploring partnerships with local businesses to provide internship opportunities, giving the girls real-world experience and further boosting their confidence and skills.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our donors, partners, and volunteers whose steadfast support has propelled the success of "Girls Better After Quake." Together, we continue this transformative journey, striving to make a lasting difference in the lives of individuals affected by the earthquake, empowering them with knowledge, skills, and confidence.

Thank you for being a part of this remarkable journey. Your contributions and dedication are helping to build a brighter future for these resilient young girls and their communities.
