Inclusion & Rights: Girl Power Report

By Kira Syrotenko | Acting Head of the Board of Directors of the Fund

Over the past four months, the Girl Power Ukraine project has made a profound impact on the lives of hundreds of girls from various regions of Ukraine, including frontline areas. We have not only provided high-quality non-formal education but also created a safe environment for personal development, support, and self-realization. Thanks to the involvement of civil society organizations, donors, and experts, we have expanded the initiative and adapted it to meet the needs of girls, including those with visual impairments.

Geography & Reach

New courses have been launched in:

  •  Svitanok (Chernihiv region)
  •  Irpin (Kyiv region)
  •  Kharkiv (for evacuated girls from the Kharkiv region)
  •  National Inclusive GP for girls with visual impairments

Successfully completed programs in:

  •  Chernivtsi
  •  Odesa
  •  Kamianske (Dnipropetrovsk region)
  •  Sumy
  •  Kyiv region
  •  Inclusive GP for girls with visual impairments
  •  Lutsk

Key Impact Figures

  •  5,000+ girls have completed the program (both online and offline)
  •  7 educational modules in each location
  •  84+ experts engaged in training

Core Educational Modules

1 Self-Education & Personal Development
2 Leadership & Career Growth
3 Opportunities for Girls in Various Fields
4 Reproductive Health
5 Combating Domestic Violence
6 The Social Role of Women

A particularly noteworthy achievement has been the introduction of adapted courses for girls with visual impairments. Recognizing the additional barriers these participants face in education and self-realization, we developed specialized learning formats tailored to their needs:

  •  Use of audio materials and tactile learning aids
  •  Interactive teaching methods, enabling knowledge acquisition through dialogue and hands-on exercises
  •  Psychological support and the creation of an inclusive environment where every girl feels comfortable and valued

Challenges & Resilience

One of the biggest challenges was implementing Girl Power Ukraine in frontline regions, where continuous shelling and security risks deprive children of even basic offline learning opportunities. Despite these hardships, we succeeded in establishing safe educational spaces, allowing girls to receive support, share their experiences, and find motivation to move forward.

Over the last four months, Girl Power Ukraine has profoundly transformed the lives of thousands of girls, opening up new perspectives and opportunities. Beyond teaching essential skills, we have instilled self-confidence, resilience, and a sense of empowerment for their future.

Future Plans

  •  Expanding the project to new cities across Ukraine
  •  Developing additional inclusive programs for girls with special needs
  •  Enhancing online courses to reach even more participants

Girl Power Ukraine is more than just education—it is a movement that changes lives.

  •  “I always dreamed of starting my own business but never believed it was possible. During the course, we learned how to build a business with social impact, and I realized I could start right away. Now, my friend and I are launching our own eco-friendly tote bag workshop. Thank you, Girl Power, for believing in us!”
  •  “Because of the war, I had to leave my home. At Girl Power, I found friends, support, and motivation to keep learning. Now I know I can build my future despite all the difficulties.”
