Sindh Disabled Welfare Association (SDWA) continued its efforts to help vulnerable rural families build more sustainable livelihoods through livestock support. From January to August 2026, 175 rural families received one pregnant goat each, along with practical livestock-management training to help families care for their animals and build a productive household resource. A goat can provide a family with more than immediate assistance. As the goat produces milk and offspring, families can use these resources to support household nutrition and, when appropriate, generate income through the sale of milk or animals. The training provided alongside each goat helps families develop the knowledge needed to care for their livestock and maintain the benefit over time. The project is designed around a sustainable “pass on the gift” approach, in which supported families can eventually help another vulnerable family by passing on a female offspring. Through 175 families supported so far, SDWA is helping rural households build an asset that can contribute to nutrition, income, and greater economic resilience for years to come.
