A School in the heart of a fishing community in Ghana where the children arrive to an empty classroom with no resources to learn. This is the reality, the schools are under funded and teachers often don't turn up even though the students do, there is no or little learning resources available and limited money to pay teaching staff in the rural areas of Ghana. Our project is working to help fund the local schools and build sustainable income generation for them to succeed and teach the children.
Ghana is struggling and for those communities outside the city and more rural the situation is even worst. One school we work with started out with a passionate headteacher responsible for a building (school) that has no power, no doors or windows. With limited stationery and furniture and staff underpaid they don't show up it is a real battle to keep a school going every day but the students still arrive every day and sit and wait. The head is passionate but needs help to turn things around
Working with the head a gift to this project will help fund the furniture, stationery, learning materials and staff to get this school back on its feet and running successful. Once at this stage we will work with the school to implement local income generation projects that can be used to help fund the running of the school and to ensure they are able to educate all the children of the community.
We aim to have a school that has good resources and teaching standards to provide a good basic primary education to over 300 local students.
