Women and girls deserve to have their voices heard. Grassroots women and girls' rights advocates have valuable expertise, but they're consistently being excluded from national decision-making on issues that matter to them. That's why we're working to equip 200 women and girls' rights advocates from 53 countries with the skills, connections, and resources they need to get in the room and make their voices heard.
Grassroots women and girls' rights advocates have valuable expertise, but they're consistently being excluded from national decision-making on issues that matter to them. Our data shows that 68% of grassroots groups surveyed worldwide have not been included in high-level decision-making on gender equality. Without advocates' input, policies and programs risk leaving behind millions of women and girls.
Help Women Thrive train 200 women and girls' rights advocates in 2018. We provide coaching and courses for women and girls' rights advocates to become effective advocates when they're in the room. Help Women Thrive bring 15 women and girls' rights advocates to the United Nations in 2018. The United Nations is a key space to influence gender equality policies. We ensure women and girls' rights advocates are equal partners in this space.
When advocates are equipped with the skills they need to thrive, they're more confident and capable to influence decision-making that will benefit their communities, countries, and world. By including women and girls "in the room," decisions will better reflect their needs. Gender equality policies and programs will be more effective and sustainable, and we will be able to achieve gender equality for all.
