When the time to get back to school is around the corner, the feelings of joy and laughter for all children are sparkling everywhere.

Even though, not everyone of them have the conditions to attend school and enjoy their undeniable right to education, unfortunately. This could be due to the lack of the financial incomes, social exclusions and so on and we see this reality everyday in our work, that's why we aim together with you to make a change and facilitate the journey of each person struggling in this process.

This new school year made us all smile again, and the sparkles were felt from each of us, from each of these children, because we deserve so.

Because of your donations, we did it! Now more than 300 children have their new bags and other school supplies for this new school year, and are very grateful that their journey to school has been facilitated.

It is still a desperate reality that some communities don’t have basic life needs met all around the world, but at the other hand it is wonderful to see people like you working and helping these groups be equal and independent.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”- said Nelson Mandela, and you are all indeed successfully contributing in this process.

Thank you,

The Ideas Partnership, with love :)

Llukman is a young boy, part of a huge family with brother and sisters. Although huge in number of members, an important one is missing, and that is his father who died lately, and affected emotionally and financially every each of them.

But, in all this he says he has not lost hope, The Ideas Partnership helped in the past and is continuing to do so now, with considerable needs.

Arlinda (his mother), seems to have grown up a tough guy, with big dreams for the future. Born to teach, as she says. He is registered in the first class in school and started an important step in his life. During this time he has discovered so many dreams of his, and one of them is being a teacher when he grows up.

Llukman says: "I love math most out of all other classes, and that's what I intend to teach hopefully in the future, and share my knowledge to others."

His family indeed struggles with life's crisis and poor financial conditions, but does it mean that this has to stop him from dreaming and working toward a better future? No, that is what he already says, and seems commited to it.

Olti is just like any other child: inquisitive and energetic. Olti should be given the same chance in life as any other kid in Kosovo. Olti deserves the same chance as anyone else. However, the fact that Olti is from the most deprived of communities in Fushe Kosovo makes this equilibrium a pipe dream.

There is hope though. Olti has infinitely more opportunity than his grandmother’s generation, partly due to her willingness and determination to make sure this is the case, whatever the cost to her personally, but also because of the fantastic work of The Ideas Partnership. In the absence of definitive government help, the organisation provides an invaluable stop-gap to help children like Olti and his heroic grandma. A small sum of money helps ensure Olti and other kids in his situation aren’t forced to spend every hour of the day working for tiny sums to help feed their families.

They are able to attend school, and start to address the economic injustice that has faced them and their community for generations. The Ideas Partnership helps support Olti in his studies, allowing him to get to and from school safely, providing his Grandmother with funding for his lunch and making sure he has ample books for school. Olti now attends school every day, and hopes to be a Policeman or a doctor in the future. This extra financial help provides children like Olti with invaluable physical and psychological rest bite, reassuring them that the path of education is the right one for them and their family.

Your donations can help Olti’s career ambitions a reality.

Majlinda in school
Majlinda in school

As we grow, we all come from different backgrounds that not every time tend to make our path easy to achieve goals of education. It is not every time that we have all the conditions to attend school and get educated.

But, despite these, it is also every time that people think about others, besides themselves. Think about making a change in wider society, beginning with some small steps. It's their thought and action afterward that enables these changes, make opportunities for people with different backgrounds as we're all the same.

That's the story of Majlinda, whose fate took a wonderful turn for a good start, thanks to all of you donors, and your generous hearts.

Majlinda is a child, whose family experienced so many adversities, starting with the death of the father and of her brother, continuing with difficult living conditions and another paralyzed brother, which in this case for her mother it was and still continues to be a great challenge every day that she faces. Considering this, her mother indeed didn't have conditions and time to take her child to school, until The Ideas Partnership, from amazing donors, provided transportation for her to school by bus, and provided her with books and other necessary school supplies, that definitely made her smile again.

She started the first class this September, and when speaking with her she mentioned that she started learning letters and the alphabet, and also that she got a lot of congrats from her teacher. Except this, she says "I really enjoy sports we make outside with friends and the teacher", and tells about the great time they are having together learning new things and practicing, which her bright eyes tells it all.

Slowly reaching the end of the lovely conversation with her, she states that her hope is to continue education and thereby help her family, and I told her that in this dynamic world good people still exist to help us achieve our dreams, we only need persistent courage, everything afterward comes like a river flow.

Thanks to all of your support, she has regained the belief that everything is possible and can be done if we help each other along the way.

Ajshe, the next generation of policewomen
Ajshe, the next generation of policewomen

In July 2019, we visited Ajshe, a young Kosovan girl who had lived in the Fushe Kosove community all her life. Aged 12, she has been involved with the work of The Ideas Partnership (TIP) since she was 7. She informed us whilst chatting that she had a large family with 4 brothers and 5 sisters. She also told us that some of her family lived in Germany. TIP has also worked with 4 of her siblings with the support of her parents who recognised the importance of education in order to offer a brighter future for their children, despite having a difficult upbringing themselves.

When speaking with Ajshe and other members of the Fushe Kosove community, the issues they faced were similar including lack of employment, education, sanitation and the poor economic climate for the disadvantaged communities in Fushe Kosove, where 96% of the community are illiterate. However, despite these struggles, Ajshe reiterated to us that the area was improving as a result of the work of TIP.

During her 5-year journey with TIP, Ajshe has been grateful for opportunities that TIP has offered her and the rest of the children in the community. Ajshe informed us that TIP has offered tutoring alongside her schoolwork, offering help with homework, specifically maths. This has helped her improved her grades. Ajshe expressed her love of the sports activities at the centre which are fun for her and the other children. The sports activity she most looks forward to is Volleyball but she also enjoys the new Rugby activities being offered. However, her favourite activity with TIP is the ‘Girl’s Club’ which allows the young girls of Fushe Kosove to be educated on the issues they are presented with in their community such as Early marriage, something Ajshe’s parents want her to avoid in order to continue studying. The club arranges speakers to come in, her most memorable being a visit from singer Eliza who also performed for them. The club also reiterates the importance of female empowerment and equality as well as negotiating other difficult subjects such as hygiene and sexual health. The club gives the girls the knowledge in order to make the best decisions in their future lives. We asked Ajshe her aspirations for the future, she replied that she wanted to be a Police Officer after being inspired by both television programmes and witnessing the important work they undertake in Fushe Kosove. There is a sense that the importance of TIP’s work with Ajshe has allowed her to have such aspirations. Through the assistance from TIP, girls such as Ajshe have such high standards for the future which may have been different without the support available to them.

What was apparent when speaking with Ajshe is that her and her family cannot thank you enough for the continued support. She hopes in the future that TIP will continue to support more young girls like her and preserve the ‘Girl’s Club’ which empowers the young girls of Fushe Kosove and the wider community. Without your donations, the lives of these girls may have been different but instead it has allowed them to have high ambitions, such as being in the Police Force and with the help of TIP, this has become an attainable goal. With your continued donations and support we can ensure our valuable work continues for generations.
