After a little more than a month working together, the kids have now become friends, and their creativity is starting to show. The first two weeks of the month they worked on making boxes that they decorated with a lot of colors and that they will be using to store some of their favorites things, such as jewelry, puzzle pieces and candy.
Once they finished with the boxes they started working on a new challenge, fridge magnets! The first experience, was not a successful one, since the doe they used didn’t get dry at all and not even the oven could fix it by the time we realized of this inconvenient. As you could imagine, it was a little disappointing for the little artists, but they say that practice makes the master, and by the second time they had to mold the doe, the outcomes where much better than the first time and the kids where proud of their second attempt. Next steps, painting and gluing the magnets!
Finally, this year we implemented a curiosity board, essentially a board where the kids can make questions that they always wonder and during the classes, and based on their behavior they earn the right to choose one of those questions and challenge the teacher to answer it. If the teacher doesn’t know the answer, then she has to find it out for the next class and that kids earns the right to ask for a second question. If you would like to help our staff, help us find out how much does a hippo sleeps, what an eraser is made of and how much time does it takes a butterfly to be born.
