oikos Transforming Education (TE) initiative is empowering and accompanying student change agents from >20 countries to collaborate with key players at the university ecosystem and make the youth voices heard. Embedded in the global oikos network, students tackle the sustainability challenges of our time and take ownership of their education. Through the TE initiative we progressed teaching and learning at >30 Universities and we continue to foster their sustainable development.
Higher Education Institutions were designed in the 18th century and do not prepare students for the challenges of today. While there is a wide awareness among teachers, faculty and management with massive conferences being held on the topic, the system is stuck and barely changing at all. It was found essential to develop creative, innovative & constructive solutions to these complex challenges, while thousands of students are being left out of the process!
With the Transforming Education initiative, oikos is offering multi-platforms & processes for real change through collaboration, co-creation & building connections between students & key university players at e.g. oikos Academy, ensuring students do have a voice. Through international change labs which confront what & how we learn (oikos Camp) and continuous peer exchange (TE squad), we empower students, foster strong relationships and globally disseminate impactful change stories (TE stories).
We foster a learner mindset among all stakeholders in higher education. This leads to radical changes in how higher education empowers and invites faculty & students to boldly step into the future. Additionally oikos students prove to become conscious leaders of change after their academic career. They step up to tackle the complex challenges in every environment, from business and politics to engineering and natural sciences.
