Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far to help fund Childline. With your generous help, we have raised £9,093 which has helped to answer 2273 calls from worried children all across the UK.

Here for children when they have nowhere else to turn

Childline is a unique 24/7 helpline service offering confidential support to children and young people within the UK. Last year, we delivered almost 200,000 counselling sessions with children and young adult struggling. The top three concerns that children and young people are contacting Childline with are all mental and emotional health and wellbeing, family relationships, and friendship issues (not Bullying).

Friendship issues has moved up the concern rankings since last year from 4th to 3rd. The sub-concerns within Friendship issues include falling out with friends, worried about a friend, have no friends and feeling isolated, struggling to make friends and missing friends. All of these concerns compliment the work that Childline is doing around loneliness.

Building Connections Service

Launching in Autumn 2023, our new Building Connections service will help Childline be there for children and young people experience loneliness. The service will provide referred young people experiencing loneliness with 11 sessions to build their relationships and develop skills to manage their emotions, build their confidence, self-esteem and support them to find new ways to cope.

Over 90% of our income comes through donations, and we are extremely grateful for the support we have received from those who have donated. With just £4, you can help a counsellor answer a call from a child experiencing friendship problems. A 16 year old Young Person contacted Childline who was having concerns about a friend, by contacting the service they were able to get support. “I’ve been struggling to support a friend who is dealing with their own mental health, I constantly worry about saying the wrong thing. After talking things through with a Childline counsellor, I feel so much calmer about the whole thing. They made me realise I was doing the right thing and they helped me find things to boost my confidence. It’s such a relief to know that Childline is here to listen and support me whenever I’m feeling down.”

On average, a child contacts Childline every 25 seconds, and with your help we can answer each call. We are continually reviewing and developing the Childline service with feedback from children and young people to ensure that it is meeting their needs.

Since the last report, we celebrated our annual flagship day ‘Childhood Day’ which brought everyone across the UK together to have fun and protect children! On the 9th June, we had a variety of fundraising activities happening across the UK, including our first ever Childline Sports Day which brough together over 45 teams from the media sector which raised an incredible £162,000 which will enable us to answer 40,500 contacts from children and young people who need someone to turn to.

We thank you again for your support, and we hope that you will continue to share and support and our fight for children.
