Over the past few months, exciting progress has been made with ROLDA’s first cage free sanctuary. I’m thrilled to be able to share an update with you, since you kindly donated in support of this project.
We chose to call the shelter ‘Little Haven’ to reflect the feeling of safety and respite dogs will feel when they pass through its doors. As you may know, the shelter was designed with animal wellbeing at its heart- to provide greater freedom, comfort and enrichment. For dogs rescued from the street, Little Haven will be an important stepping stone to support them, rebuild their confidence and prepare them for family life in their forever home.
We’re so pleased to share that fantastic progress is being made with the groundwork and site preparations - and we are fully on track based on our milestones planned for Autumn 2026.
You may know that the shelter has three distinct areas planned. Firstly the Dogs Ranch which will be made up of rows of open dog spaces, indoor space and outdoor terrace. Beside this will be a sensory garden where dogs can play, explore and simply enjoy being a dog after the difficult start they may have had to life. The second is Puppy Land - which is made up of individual areas for mothers and puppies, providing calmer environments to support early development. And finally the ROLDA Eco Village which will be a hub and living space for the wonderful animal caretakers and volunteers who dedicate their time to supporting the dogs, and the day-to-day running of the shelter.
Our Autumn milestones are well underway and we’re on track to get this phase completed.
The groundwork, site preparation and foundations have already been completed for both the Dogs Ranch and Puppy Land - and the walls of the Dogs Ranch are currently under construction.
We have made such fantastic progress thanks to incredible individuals like you, who care about the wellbeing of abandoned dogs. We couldn’t be more grateful for your support. Winter and Spring of 2027 brings our next exciting set of milestones, including the construction of Puppy Land and site preparations for the Eco Village. We’ll also see the windows, doors, heating and electrics completed at the Dogs Ranch, and the shelter will truly start coming to life.
There is still a long way to go before we can open the doors to Little Haven and we hope to achieve this dream with your support. If you are in a position to donate towards the next phase of the project we would be immensely grateful. Thank you again for helping to make Little Haven a reality - hundreds of dogs will benefit for years to come, all because you chose to care.
