For families living in poverty, the holidays are not a time of celebration. They are a painful reminder that, in a valley of immense wealth, they go without year-round. As wishes come in to our database, we too are reminded of how little they have; many wishing for basics such as bedding, shoes, clothes, and warm jackets.
A life in poverty means instability, disappointment, and saddness. A gift during the holidays brings immeasurable joy and stability to their lives. Giving a child in-need the exact gift they wished for says, "You matter" and shows them the community cares for them.
We can't do it without. As we prepare for our 25th Holiday Wish Drive with a goal of fulfilling 75,000 wishes, consider fulfilling the wish of a child in-need and providing them with the joy of the holiday season they don't often feel.
