The Didascalio School in the Villa Albertina area of Buenos Aires province is located in a vulnerable neighborhood where students face many situations of economic, social, and food insecurity.
Below, we share the work we have been doing at the school and the impact these initiatives have had on the community.
Educational program in action
The Didascalio School was one of the schools supported by the Huerta Niño Foundation in 2025 as part of its educational program, integrating the network of institutions in Greater Buenos Aires.
Workshops on gardening and healthy eating were held at the school for students, teachers, administrators, and families, taught by nutritionists from the Barceló University School of Medicine in coordination with Fundación Huerta Niño. In addition, the institution received seeds, fruit trees, seedlings, soil, and tools to strengthen and maintain its garden space, thus consolidating both the training and the sustainability of the project.
With the support of Fundación Huerta Niño, the Didascalio school now has a fruit tree grove with more than 20 trees that provide fresh, healthy fruit to students and their families.
We also support the school by providing supplies and tools for the garden, installing an irrigation system, and building a perimeter fence for the garden and fruit tree grove.
The impact of our actions.
In 2025, the program reached more than 5,000 children and directly trained 948 people, including students, teachers, and families.
As part of the support we provided to schools, a survey was conducted among families, which yielded very interesting results: 61.5% indicated that children consume and are more familiar with fruits and vegetables thanks to the school garden, and 62.7% said that this was the first time they had received training in healthy eating.

At Colegio Didascalio, as in every school we support, the garden is much more than a productive space. It is a place for meeting, learning, and building food autonomy. Let's continue sowing the future together.
