In the neighborhood of Villa Albertina, Buenos Aires Province, Colegio Didascalio has 900 students and is a symbol of transformation in a community full of challenges. Its agroecological garden, which began as a modest effort, has grown into a beacon of hope. Once an empty lot, this space is now a living classroom where youth cultivate knowledge and opportunities. Today, it faces new challenges, with your support it can continue to be an educational and productive tool.
Planting fruit trees is key to providing shade, nutritious fruits, and hands-on learning for students. Children need an environment that teaches them to connect with the land, care for the environment, and nourish themselves better, while building skills to replicate at home. The lack of a greenhouse limits practical activities, we will resolve this need altoghether.
We aim to transform the school into a living learning center where every child learns to cultivate, care for, and harvest their own food. Fruit trees will surround the school, providing shade, fresh fruits, and lessons in patience and sustainability. More than just a physical project, it will be a comprehensive educational experience where families and teachers are trained in agroecology, healthy eating, and environmental care, reinforcing the motto: "learning by doing and teaching by producing.
The impact of this project goes beyond the 900 students in the school, reaching their families and communities. The principles sown in this garden will be reaped as stronger, more self-sufficient communities. Each fruit tree planted are not just sources of food but symbols of lasting change. The school cafeteria will improve its menu with fresh foods, while the trees, with their deep roots, connect the community to a sustainable future, providing shade and sustenance for years.
