LOVE You Can Hold

By Liz Welch | Executive Director

Pride Month is here, and thanks to your support, Mama Dragons volunteers are sharing Embracelets at events and celebrations across the country.

This year feels different.

In a time when so many LGBTQ+ people have felt vulnerable, targeted, and exhausted by the constant political attacks on their identities, healthcare, families, and rights, being present in these spaces has been both heartwarming and overwhelming. Everywhere we go, we meet people carrying stories of fear, resilience, hope, and determination.

And then something beautiful happens.

Someone approaches our booth and is invited to choose an Embracelet.

They carefully sort through dozens of colors and patterns, searching for one that speaks to them. We tell them that each bracelet was handmade by a mother who wanted them to know they are loved. That somewhere, someone sat down with string and beads and intentionally created something just for a person they would likely never meet.

Often there is a pause. Sometimes there are tears. Sometimes there is laughter. And very often, there is a hug.

What might seem like a small gesture—a bracelet, a conversation, a hug—can become something much larger. For many people, especially those who have experienced rejection or isolation, these moments are tangible reminders that they are not alone. They leave with something they can wear, touch, and carry with them long after Pride is over.

We've heard people say, "I needed this today."

We've watched young people immediately put their bracelet on and refuse to take it off.

We've met parents who took one for themselves and one for a child they are still learning how to support.

We've seen strangers become friends over a shared story and a shared understanding that love matters.

That is the power of Embracelets.

They are more than bracelets. They are visible reminders that there are mothers, families, and communities standing beside LGBTQ+ people. They are tiny acts of kindness that create moments of connection, belonging, and hope.

Your support makes every one of those moments possible.

As Pride celebrations continue throughout the summer, know that your generosity is traveling with us—from booth to booth, city to city, and heart to heart. Every bracelet shared is a reminder that love can be tangible, visible, and life-changing.

Thank you for helping us put that love into people's hands.
