Is there light at the end of Lockdown?

By Joey Owen | Programmes Director

Next week Schools are re-opening! There was a little dancing in the office here!….it has seemed like such a long time since all the children and staff were together. The schools you support have become true thriving heartbeats of the communities they serve, a place where children find safety, fun, care and quality learning. And they have been sorely missed.

Finally we can begin to support the children in Panauti back to some sense of free, normal life where they can once again go to school, connect with their friends their teachers, and learn.

As you know, thanks to the generosity of you and many others we have been able to facilitate outreach visits throughout the COVID Lockdown and the difficulties that presented to everyone. We've provided now over 300 learning packs and our team of teachers visited every one of the children on multiple occasions. Visits included checking in on the children's wellbeing, their families, providing sanitation and COVID safe packs, and of course, the all important and often forgotten in emergencies, their education and learning!

It is because of this that children returning to school next week will be ready and prepared. As are our staff and all the parents, who have now been briefed during last week’s outreach visits and a meeting at our Kushadevi based office this week. Alternate days, and social distancing will of course be key, but our team will make every effort to ensure a relaxed, calm and caring environment for learning.

We can't wait to see how everyone get's on....

We also have some BIG news coming.... watch out for the next newsletter!

Thank you again everyone, we sincerely hope you have all stayed safe and felt good throughout lockdown. Here's to getting back to it!

Onward!

Best wishes from all the FtL team
