We would love to share with you some of our amazing stats from this last year. You generous donation has gone a long way in making our programmes such a success.
Academic Results:
We are delighted to report that 86% of students passed their end of year exam with over a 90% score - This is a fantastic achievement!! We are so proud of all the hard work students and teachers have put in to prepare for the exams this year - congratulations to them. This is because of a wide variety of approaches we take, including:
English:
We have taught 6,108 English lessons in 4 schools in the last academic year. That has meant 624 students have been given the opportunity to learn English in a fun and engaging way, daily. We use fun techniques in the classroom that encourage students to speak as much English as possible such as singing and role play. Our students also love English Club which gives the chance for students to practice their learned spoken English, watch English speaking films and cartoons. Spoken English is a valuable skill in Nepal increases students employability and confidence.
Wellbeing and the School Community:
More than 600 students and 36 teachers participated in the Freedom to Learn's crucial programme - Act on Education, a creative and active advocacy platform that brings about workable commute led change to the school community. The programme equips students with essential skills needed to speak about the issues they face accessing education. Then we carefully facilitate a series of meetings, events and activities together with teachers, school management, parents, policy makers and employers devise solutions to address those difficulties. After this process those solutions being to be put in place - positive community led changes that make the schools more engaging and nurturing learning environments.
Out of this process have included parent and friends associations being set up to support the schools, volunteer cleaning rota’s, financial support for hot school meals, regular parent and teacher meetings, increased teacher and students attendance, and more.
This process also works on team-working skills, building self-esteem and self determination. 97% of students aged between 13-16 state they have an increase of confidence from the workshops. 92% of teachers have reported “significant increase in student engagement in class”, vital to the teaching learning processes in the classroom required for a quality education.
So Thank You!
We would like to thank you once again for your support. Without people like you our work would really not be possible. Together we are able to continue to make a difference to hundreds of children every year by giving them the education the deserve.
Thank you, we wish you a great end of the Summer :0)
