Teach For Bulgaria Quarterly Report

By Anelia Todorova | Development Director

Dear supporters,

I am glad to shate with you the key results from our work last months.

Currently, we are in active recruitment campaign for teachers in 2015/2016 school year. We are working hard to our goal of 70 new teachers so we can reach to more children in need. Before turning the pages on the attached report, I would like to share with you the story of one of our students - Emo. Emo is a 12th grade student of Roma descent at the professional school for tourism in Pirdop. His mother tragically passed away, and his father has taken no interest in raising him in recent years, leaving him largely to raise himself. Despite these difficulties, Emo has the ambition to become a history teacher. Together with his current history teacher, Teach For Bulgaria teacher Petya Daneva, and his previous history teacher, Teach For Bulgaria alumna Velislava Romanova, he is working actively towards this goal. Petya recently helped Emo prepare a lesson which he then taught to his peers, thus gaining firsthand experience in his desired future profession. For the past months, together with Petya and Velislava, Emo is focusing on preparing for the university entrance exams and identifying stipend opportunities in order to support himself while pursuing his studies.

I would like to thank you for the support of Teach For Bulgaria, as you help us reach more students like Emo and show them that there are no limits in reaching their dreams.

Please find enclosed a detailed report about Teach For Bulgaria work and achievements in last quarter.

Best regards,

Anelia Todorova
Development Director
