Dear supporters,
Thank you for supporting Teach For Bulgaria’s Summer Academy for the 12th consecutive year!
This summer, we gathered nearly 600 students in grades 1 to 12 for the 12th edition of Summer Academy. We were extremely excited to see students and teachers in the classrooms after two years of online editions due to the pandemic.
From 19 July to 5 August, 77 new teachers from our program A New Way to Teaching helped the students to make a smooth transition between the two school years. Children had classes in the morning, covering main school topics, and the possibility of additional afternoon activities. We received positive feedback from parents and students and we are happy that together we provided meaningful summer activities for these children.
Recently, Teach For Bulgaria has gone through a long process of strategic planning. Teach For Bulgaria has always been a learning organisation that develops and builds on its experience in order to work toward every child in the country having the opportunity to develop their full potential. To respond to the current challenges in the education system, we decided to emphasize the development of training and support of entire school teams in our Model Schools program. Our new focus of work means that we will not organize Summer Academy in the same format in 2023 and we will direct our efforts to other activities.
This fundraiser will be closed, but our community will continue to organise summer activities. Alumni from our network will work to provide summer activities for underprivileged students. They will take place mainly in small towns or remote areas where access to quality learning activities is limited. Your support will be very valuable for their success - you can continue donating to our project ‘Help 200 students to stay in school’.
With sincere gratitude,
Teach For Bulgaria team
