We are deeply grateful for your generous support of our Legal Aid Project (now, Justice Hub Project). Because of you, we are able to stand in the gap for people who would otherwise be forgotten. Between January and May 2026, we have successfully secured the release of 173 poor and innocent individuals out of our annual target of 300.
This is a major milestone for us; the first time since 2019 that we have reached this level of impact within just five months. Your support made this possible.
Behind every number is a real person, like Chuks (not real name). Chuks worked at a construction site, doing whatever he could to earn a living. His main job was setting up scaffolding, but he often went the extra mile—helping to clean, carrying heavy materials, and taking on extra tasks just to earn a little more. One day, after working hard, he asked to be paid. Instead, he was accused of stealing. The situation quickly escalated, and he was taken away and locked up. Chuks had no one to help him. He couldn’t afford to get out, and he had no family member to stand up for him. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. Meanwhile, the people who accused him lost interest and stopped showing up. But Chuks remained behind bars. When we stepped in, we followed through on his case and continued to show up for him, even when others didn’t. Eventually, it became clear that there was no reason for him to remain in detention. After months of being locked up for something he did not do, Chuks finally walked free.This is the impact of your support.While we are proud of what we have achieved so far, there is still more to be done. We have 127 more individuals to reach to meet our target this year, and many more who are still waiting for help. We are hopeful that with continued support from partners like you, we will not only meet our goal but exceed it—bringing freedom, dignity, and hope to even more people.
